Jake Isaac discusses musical influences and using songs to express emotions.

From a young age, Jake Isaac only ever wanted to become a musician. Growing up in a minister’s household, he was heavily influenced by his father’s record collection, where he discovered Mozart, gospel and Paul Simon’s ground-breaking Graceland album.

Jake describes his debut album Our Lives as a collection of very honest songs. “Music is a way to articulate emotions and feelings that I just wouldn’t say otherwise.”

“These are songs which I believe everyone can relate to in some way. I have a lot of male friends who like myself find it difficult to express themselves or be vulnerable, and some of the songs explore this subject.”

If people can listen to my music in the same quality that I listened to it when I was creating it... that's really important to me.
