Building Better Sound

London Elektricity’s seventh album, Building Better Worlds, is released on specialist drum and bass label Hospital Records on 25 October 2019. Ahead of the release, and as part of the activities to celebrate National Album Day, Tony Colman and his mastering engineer, Dan Gresham, listened to his new album in MQA. You can view the interview here.

For his latest long player, Tony collaborated with more than a dozen artists, “because each track needed a different artist”. The genesis of opening track for example, Final View From The Rooftops, was an old instrumental piece Tony had rediscovered in his library; to which he added a specially-commissioned orchestral arrangement; which then triggered an idea to contact a former college friend, soprano singer Cydnei B, to supply the vocals. The result is a collection of “multi-layered” and evocative songs that take you on a journey of sonic discovery.

"We have done many blind comparisons of my original high-resolution masters with and without the MQA process. MQA is the consistent winner."

Alan Silverman, Mastering Engineer

"Digital music has given users the ability to hold “a thousand songs in their pocket” for over a decade. But that convenience came at the sacrifice of quality. MQA gives the user the ability to keep the convenience of a large library in their pocket, without sacrificing the quality of the music."
