Cross’ performance will be broadcast live in MQA audio from the studios to around 100 Bluesound authorised dealers across the Americas, as part of The Master Sessions collaboration between MQA, premium audio brand Bluesound, and music curators Jazz re:freshed and British Underground.
Performing since the age of 10, Cross’ genre-fluid style is redefining our understanding of modern jazz. He has received critical praise for his contribution to British jazz project Sons of Kemet as well as his recent solo record Fyah, which received widespread acclaim from tastemakers NPR, Rolling Stone, The Guardian and Pitchfork.
Speaking about the forthcoming event, Cross comments, “Thanks to British Underground and Jazz re:freshed’s unique partnership with MQA and Bluesound, I’ve been able to revisit the music from my album Fyah and hear it again in a whole new light. A lot of work went into making this music, so to be able to hear it and play it out in such vivid sonic detail is a wonderful experience for me. One that I hope will collapse the space between what we hear in the studio, and what fans (new and old!) receive in their ears.”
Cross will also be performing at Jazz re:freshed’s Outernational SXSW showcase on Wednesday 18 March at Latitude 30, 512 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, Texas.
